Treatment Towards Orphans and Women

bismillâh ir-rahmân ir-rahîm
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum
May peace be upon you

Just would like to share a hadith from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)

Abu Shuraih Khuwalid bin 'Amr Al-Khuza'i (رضي الله عنه‎) reported: The prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "O Allah, I declare inviolable the rights of two weak ones: the orphans and women." [An-Nasa'i]

Commentary: The poor are generally treated callously in human society. Women and orphans are regular victims of this cruelty. They are deprived of their share in property to which they are entitled under the Islamic law. In some cases their properties are usurped and they are maltreated at the hands of usurpers. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) has threatened them with serious consequences to prevent the Muslims from committing such injustice. The attitude of Muslims and the teachings of Islam in this matter are two different things. How can Islam be blamed for the attitude of Muslims? It is time Muslims should understand that Islam is getting a bad name because of their bad conduct. As a result of this they are committing a double crime. On the one hand, they are guilty of usurping others of their legitimate rights and perpetrating cruelties, and on the other, disgracing their religion. In other words, rather than preaching Islam they are creating obstacles in the way of people joining the fold of Islam. May Allah grant us guidance to follow the right path. Amin!

Birthday celebrations?

bismillâh ir-rahmân ir-rahîm
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum
May peace be upon you

The only way for you to succeed in both dunya(wordly) and akhirah(hereafter), is for you to cutoff time from your entertainment, from your sleep, and you have to do what you have to do. As a muslim you cannot afford to waste a single moment your lives, not a SINGLE moment. A MUSLIM CANNOT AFFORD TO WASTE ANY TIME, because the clock for you is ticking, and it is a countdown. For you its a countdown. You see the way the Kuffar or some of the Kuffar see it, is that we are in a fight with nature and every year that passes by, we have won against nature. At least that was the perception in 'old-europe'; Its a fight between us and nature. You know in some societies they use to view that they are in harmony with nature for example the native americans, their world view is that we are in harmony with nature. So they wouldn't touch the environment, they wouldn't harm it because they believe that they are all one. However in the western mind, its a challenge between us and nature. Its a fight, and that is why they celebrate birthdays. You find that birthdays is a big thing in the west, why? Because in the old days life was rough and you know you have a few months in the year where you cannot plant and you cannot farm in winter. So life for them was a struggle. So when they lived for another year, they said they have won against the forces of nature. So they celebrate birthday. I have lived for another year, I have defeated the forces of nature therefore I should celebrate my birthday.

But that is not the worldview of a muslim. A muslim believes that your life is already destined. Your not fighting with nature. Your life is already destined. Allah Azza Wa Jal has already ordained the exact time you will spend in dunya(world). So when a year passes by, the way you SHOULD see it as a muslim, you should see it that, I am one year closer to my death. I am getting closer to my grave. So it doesn't make any sense whatsoever for you as a muslim, to bring a cake infront of you and blow the candles and your smiling and so happy when your one year closer to your death. You should be making muhasabbah. You should be holding yourself accountable for that year, not celebrating and taking photos infront of the cake. You should be veiwing it with seriousness,'I AM ONE YEAR CLOSER TO MEETING ALLAH AZZA WA JAL, WHAT HAVE I DONE? DID I PREPARE MYSELF FOR IT?'. One of the statement of Umar r.a was "...hold yourself accountable before you will be hold accountable for what you did" (more or less).

Allahu'alam (Allah Azza Wa Jal knows best)

This is just a reminder for you and myself. May Allah Azza Wa Jal (Mighty and Majestic is He) protect us and guide to the righteous path, Ameen (May it be so).

May Allah Azza Wa Jal forgive me for the shortcomings from what I have wrote.

Glory be to Allah Azza Wa Jal, I testify that there is no diety that is worthy of worship accept Allah s.w.t and Muhammad s.a.w (peace and blessings be upon him) is the last and final messenger, I beg for His (Allah Azza Wa Jal) forgiveness in all the shortcomings that I have made.

Fi Amanillah,

Sharing the message

bismillâh ir-rahmân ir-rahîm
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum
May peace be upon you

Dear Reader,
There is no compulsion for man to accept the TRUTH. But it is certainly a shame upon the human intellect when man is not even interested in finding out as to what is the TRUTH Islam teaches that God has given man the faculty of reason and therefore expects man to reason things out objectively and systematically for himself. To reflect and to question and to reflect.

Nobody should press you to make a hasty decision to accept any of the teachings of Islam, for Islam teaches that man should be given the freedom to choose. Even when man is faced with the TRUTH, there is no compulsion upon man to embrace it. But before you begin to form an opinion about Islam, ask yourself whether your existing knowledge of Islam is thorough enough. Ask yourself whether that knowledge has been obtained through non-Muslim third party sources who themselves have probably been exposed to only random glimpses of Islamic writings and have yet to reason on Islam objectively and systematically themselves.

Is it fair that one should form an opinion about the taste of a particular dish just by heresay from others who may themselves not necessarily have tasted the dish yet? Similarly you should find out for yourself about Islam from reliable sources and not only taste it, but digest it well before you form an opinion. That would be an intellectual approach to Islam.

It is up to you to make the next move.

In making your move, Islam continuously reassures you that your rights to freedom of choice and freedom to use that Godgiven faculty of thought and reason will be respected. Every man has that individual will. No one else can take away that will and force you to surrender to the will of God. You have to find out and make that decision yourself.

May your intellectual journey towards the TRUTH be a pleasant one.

Fitna, Trials and Tribulations

bismillâh ir-rahmân ir-rahîm
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

AsSalam Alaikum warahmatullah.

Begin with all praise is due to Allah s.w.t, we seek his help and we ask for His foregiveness. And we seek refuge from Allah s.w.t from the evil of ourselves and for the evil consequence of our evil actions. Whomsoever Allah s.w.t guides, there is none to misguide, and whomsoever Allah s.w.t leaves to fall astray, there is none to guide. And I testify that there is no diety that is worthy of worship accept Allah s.w.t and Muhammad s.a.w is His last and final messenger. After that, the best speech is the book of Allah s.w.t and the best guidance is Muhammad s.a.w. And the worst of all the affairs are the matters that are newly introduced in the religion. Every matter that is newly introduced is an innovation, all of the innovation is misguidance, all of the misguidance is going astray, and all the going astray is in the fire.

I have something in mind that I wish to put into discussion insyaAllah and perhaps I can share with some of the brothers or sisters out there insyaAllahu ta'ala.

Before I begin, what is 'fitna'? I think it is imperative for us to understand or at least get an idea of what it means. Well I am not a linguist or fluent in arabic, just to share a thing or two and perhaps you can share of what you know and insyaAllah we can have a better understanding in this matter insyaAllah. Let us do our best.

Fitna - Masses of people in Malaysia, understaands the word 'fitna' by a slander. Slander in brief is charging falsely or with malicious intent towards another person, group, party, etc. It is also understood as making accusation without any solid evidence. Well it is how I understand 'fitna' as I grew up here in Malaysia. However, Alhamdulillah with the more reading and research that I have made, the meaning of the word 'fitna' expands and in fact it actually carries a very broad implication. 'Trials and tribulations' can also be a 'fitna' as defined from other people from different parts of the world. This word 'fitna' were mentioned on and off in Islam. Therefore it is best to understand the word in arabic for the word is arabic to begin with. Feel free to post in any resources regarding on the definition of the word and share it with us for the benefit of all insyaAllah.

Many muslims in various parts of the world are undergoing a terrible fitna. What do we mean by 'fitna' from this statement? Trials and tribulations, SubhanAllah. What kind of trial? What kind of tribulation? Allahu'alam. Different people undergo different trials, at least we have a common agreement on that insyaAllah. Some may have financial problems, family problems, partner in life conflicts, loss of love one's, and so forth. It is not rocket science to figure out that life is filled with trials and tribulations disregard whether you are a male or female, parents or children, teacher or student, rich or poor, young or old, simply 'fitna' does not discriminate between any of these attributions of ours as a human becoming. Approaching from that view, we are on a common yet unique ground each and everyone of us, SubhanAllah. Often we take routes that benefits us with all our might.

How indeed do we face 'fitna' today? As we all know today, especially in the world of psychology there are indeed loads categories of emotional instability, inconsistency, etc. which brings about depression, stress, anxiety, and even to solitude. Today, alhamdulillah there are experts existing today in this particular field which one may go and consult with them. These experts have studied in a field which not many people would even have interest to dive in due to the job prospect in Malaysia especially. Although I have heard that this field is a field which will bloom in the future, well Allah knows best. There are many classes of people existing in our countries, disregard of where we are. Since that this area of profession professes to be an expert involving our behavior, our emotions, and such. Allow me to bring forward a question, does it cater to all classes of people indiscriminate of races, ethnicity, culture, different background, the rich or the poor, the young or the old, or even those who do not have the understanding of the english language (since this field was introduced by the western people). Not many people understand how important it is to guard our inner us, our soul.

we feed daily and almost all the time with the food which our body requires from the soil. Certainly, we need it to keep the body up and running for our daily lives and no doubt about that. When we are deprived from having the delicious foods that we daily consumed, and when we turn sick, there are clinics available all over. Doctors who have studied for years and plenty of time spent to just serve in the hospital. Also it is one of the most favored profession in the world today.

But what about the soul?

Forget about meeting a psychologist or also known as a shrink. I don't have enough money to just get their consultation. I think my situation is not too serious to meet a shrink. Furthermore my level of english is very low! How am I going to be able to comprehense what the shrink might say to me?! To whom shall I turn to? I cannot go to the normal doctor, i'll end up getting the weird medicines which has nothing to do with what I need!

What is the food to the soul? Are we ignorant about this when it is indeed an important aspect of our lives?

Most of the causes for our psychological instability is due to the lack of this 'food' for the soul. We may take anti-depressant which may put our stress away for awhile, but after it is no longer in effect, it becomes more severe. Or we will dependent to the anti-depressant that we took. Either way, it does not feed the soul.

So to whom indeed do we turn to? And why?

O' Allah! Please don't make us among those who are ingorant, don't leave us astray. Grant us the desire to gain knowledge, guide us to the straight path and show us the light when we are lost in the darkness, Ameen ya Rabb.

It is not my intention to belittle the field of psychology or anything that is associated with it. It is a very good field for one to study, but not everyone is able to gain such knowledge untill it spreads to other languages (which may consumes a considerable amount of time) and untill it reaches to every classes of people that exists in the world today, indiscriminating races, color, etc.

Allah knows best.

This is just to remind my self.

[muttaqi] Tawarruk and Iftirshah in Salah

bismillâh ir-rahmân ir-rahîm

Just abit of something that we ought to respond to. Manners that is performed in our solah(prayers) and how it should be done, Allahu'alam. May Allah Azza Wa Jal increase us in knowledge and our Eeman to practise this deen, Ameen(may it be so).

Note: The manner of performing the prayer is same for men and women. So the following is valid for all i.e both for men and women

What is Tawarruk ?
To sit in such a manner that the left shin is not under the left thigh, shifting it towards the right, with the buttocks on the ground.

i.e the tawarruk position is when a person sits with the left posterior (buttock) on the ground; his right foot placed vertically with toes pointing towards the qibla; and the left foot on its side emerging from under the right foot.

Position of Tawarruk in Salah:

Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked in Liqa' al-Baab il-Maftooh: When should a worshipper sit mutawarrikan in prayer, and in which prayers?

He replied: Tawarruk is done in the final tashahhud of every prayer that has two tashahhuds, i.e., the last tashahhud in Maghrib, and in 'Isha', and in 'Asr, and in Zuhr. As for the two-rak'ah prayers, such as Fajr, and the regular Sunnah prayers, there is no tawarruk in them. So tawarruk is only in the last tashahhud of every prayer that has two tashahhuds.

What is Iftirash?

Iftirash means to place the left foot on the ground and sit on its ankle, while keeping the right foot standing vertically on its toes, which are pointed towards the direction of prayer.

When to sit for Iftirshah

"when the Prophet (Salllahi alahi wasallam) sat after two rak`ahs, he would sit on his left foot and stand up his right foot [i.e., sit in iftirash], and when he sat in the last rak`ah, he moved his left leg forward, stood up his right foot, and sat on his buttock [i.e., sat in tawarruk]." (Bukhari and others)

The wisdom behind these two positions

Imam Nawawi says that one of the wisdoms behind these two manners of sitting is that it is easier to stand up from the iftirash position than the tawarruk position, so the iftirash position was legislated for points in the prayer that have to be stood up from, and the tawarruk position was legislated for the final sitting in order to encourage one to sit for a long time and make much supplication to Allah in the final sitting.

Culture? Religion? Way of life?

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum (May peace be unto you)

Begin with all praise is due to Allah s.w.t, we seek his help and we ask for His foregiveness. And we seek refuge from Allah s.w.t from the evil of ourselves and for the evil consequence of our evil actions. Whomsoever Allah s.w.t guides, there is none to misguide, and whomsoever Allah s.w.t leaves to fall astray, there is none to guide. Every matter that is newly introduced is an innovation, all of the innovation is misguidance, all of the misguidance is going astray, and all the going astray is in the fire.

People walk through life adopting many forms and sets of the way most of them desire to live by it. People talk about cultures, religion, and their way of life daily and as a routine. As how people 'talk' about their way of life can be in a form of language that is spoken, through the actions of our limbs, as well of the intentions of the heart. Thus, people lead their life based upon principles and this may vary from culture to culture, race to race, or even from individual to another individual. We talk and share about alot of amazing things about our life(culture, religion, etc.) in general and sometimes we also may adopt certain attributes from a different cultures and so forth. Indeed, all this varies from places to places, but then what about religion? People have dissimilar sets of beliefs and what not, certainly we should respect one another and not to mock each other. However, with regards to religion which seems to be a very controversial topic nowadays to be brought into discussion, whereby religion is suppose to be followed upon the truth. Because in a religion it consists with alot of aspects with our everyday life, as a matter of fact it is a way of life that we are practicing. So do we follow our religion blindly? following without seeking knowledge on how to perform or practice our religion? Do we follow this 'way of life' because our parents, grandparents, and our ancestors practices? Perhaps, we should ask ourselves with these questions and find out what is our reason for doing so.

Religion as defined from wikipedia: "A religion is a set of beliefs and practices, often centered upon specific supernatural and moral claims about reality, the cosmos, and human nature, and often codified as prayer, ritual, or religious law. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and religious experience. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction. In the frame of European religious thought,[1] religions present a common quality, the "hallmark of patriarchal religious thought": the division of the world in two comprehensive domains, one sacred, the other profane.[2] Religion is often described as a communal system for the coherence of belief focusing on a system of thought, unseen being, person, or object, that is considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine, or of the highest truth. Moral codes, practices, values, institutions, tradition, rituals, and scriptures are often traditionally associated with the core belief, and these may have some overlap with concepts in secular philosophy. Religion is also often described as a "way of life" or a Life stance"[cut and pasted from wikipedia.org]. Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianism, Judaism, Islam, etc. are some of the few religions that are widely known throughout the world. What about atheism? secularism? humanism? or any "-ism"'s that is practiced as a way of life, can all of these be qualified as a religion? Certainly I am not here to define what it means, it is just to have a better understanding insyaAllah(through Allah's will) on the weight of the term 'religion' actually carries. Certainly not a subject that should be taken lightly for it is a way of life that is at stake here my brothers and sisters. Perhaps at the very least we, including myself, ought to contemplate and to ponder about.

One of the few things in life that we are particular about, is when we tend to be extra cautious and concern when trusting something, someone, etc. For instance, if a guys comes knocking on our door wearing all this leather jacket, leather pants, leather boots, t-shirt that has a skull on it, bald headed, and big beard, just to deliver a mail for example and he claims that he is from the established mailing company in your country. Most of us wouldn't even open the door, or atmost we would call the mailing company and check with them whether or not such guy wearing such and such is making the deliveries from one house to another. We would call and ask for identification so that we can check with the 'suspicious' person knocking on your door. Well this is just to illustrate the situation. It may not be the best example in the world but I hope the point is delivered insyaAllah.

Look how particular or careful a person can be, but when it comes to religion there seems to be a double standard. Perhaps the majority would follow the masses of people because everyone is doing it, or otherwise, Allahu'alam(Allah knows best). But think for a moment, sit back, and spend some time thinking on this very serious matter I must say because it will affect the end results. Negligence, ignorance; that most us would deny that we actually are. Just the thought of it, how arrogant have we become? What ever happen to humility? Having the sense of respect towards our brothers and sisters instead of pulling them down and pushing them away, what has become of us?

So what is our purpose really? Do we have a sense of purpose in life? Do we really? For those brothers and sisters who understands our purpose in this life, Alhamdulillah (praises be to Allah Azza Wa Jal), then share and deliver the message to others insyaAllah. So much time wasted when so many things that could have been done but heads up. While there is still time, fill it with knowledge and share it with others insyaAllahu ta'ala.

May Allah Azza Wa Jal increase us in knowledge and guide us to the straight path that He(Allah Azza Wa Jal) loves, Ameen(May it be so).

The Journey

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum (May peace be unto you),

The journey here as per se is with regards to our journey in this life. First and foremost, I would just like to share a bit of my knowledge with my brothers and sisters insyaAllah (Through Allah's will), for I am still learning and I do not intend to show that I know more than any of you, A'uzubillah (I seek refuge in Allah s.w.t) for I certainly am not. Frankly, I am sure most may know more than I do, perhaps we could share a bit of our knowledge and may we benefit from it insyaAllah.

Everyday, people go through hardships and calamities that may befall them which also may lead them in a state of distress and on the other hand, people tend to seek happiness in various ways to an extend where they desire to obtain instant joy and happiness. Most would say, it is 'life' by its nature, whereby there are times we stumble and there are times we feels as if we are reaching the clouds and there are also times where we are in apathy, void, solitude, lonely, rather oblivious with our sense of direction in life as a whole. Often we reflect upon the period of time which we feel happy and content with in times of despair. Assumingly thousands of questions and assumptions that takes place constantly. Therefore let me just ask you as well as myself, why do we do what we do at this very moment? Is there any real purpose of why we do it? Do we yearn for recognition from the people around us? Are we doing this to feed or fulfill our desire selfishly? Is it just a mere act of conformity of how the society has conditioned us in our decisions? Certainly I am not here to judge others regarding on these matters, rather it is just something to contemplate on. People walk in and out in one's life regularly, and often we are affected devastatingly by it disregard whether they are our close friends, partner in life, and even our family.

The following question would be, how do I prepare myself in overcoming or even when the time comes how do one deals with such matter? Therefore, seeking knowledge ought to be the rational reaction in dealing or to even understand life, our lives at the very least. I do welcome remarks regarding on this 'blog' that I have written as well as what I may write in the future insyaAllah, but again it is something for everyone of us to contemplate on. There are times when we sit with our friends, families, colleagues, etc. and talk about many things in general. Within the conversations that we have participated in, how often do we talk about death? For it is a phase where every single creation will go through without knowing when, where, and even how we are going to die. Death does not discriminate between ages, skin color, level of intelligence, how much money you are making, or any other reason that you may argue. Verily death is certain, even for those who do not believe in the unseen (things that cannot be sense by our human senses). Of course, there are voices of opinions out there who proclaims that we only live once, therefore live life to the fullest. It is our own choice with regards of how we want to live our lives, so I urge you and as a reminder for myself to think, to ponder, and to contemplate about this subject although it may be a cliche for many people. Do the thinking for your own sake and not for others insyaAllah. Do not let other voices cloud your thinking, as this is just a reminder for all of us indiscriminately. We are forgetting that death is catching up to us, death can just sneak up just around the corner and it occurs when we least expect of it. Bare in mind when we have taken one step forward in life, death takes two to catch up unto you. Everything that we love and own in this life will eventually begone.

Human tends to worry about the future alot, regretting of the mistakes that they have made in the past or stuck with the achievements that they have made in their pasts, and how we have taken lightly about the present. People voiced out about what that can or want to achieve in the latter, but what about the things that you can do right this moment? We usually would say, "I am going to stop this bad habit, or start doing good deeds in the near future, so on and so forth...". Do we actually think that we are going to live untill then? Na'zubillah (We seek refuge in Allah s.w.t). 'Think before you act' - one of the most popular advice used by many people today. Before we point fingers and blaming others for not doing so and so, let us reflect such accusations and ask ourselves instead. When someone is doing a deed, why put them in shame or to humiliate them for what their deed (sincerely) when deed is suppose to be encouraged amongst us humans yet we trivialized even for the smallest deed that one may do Na'zubillah. It is amazing when one can be so conscious about others but severely ignorant when it comes to their own, and how we triggered in fury when others criticize about us but we enjoy doing that to others.Enough with the sarcasms, enough with the slanders, enough with backbiting, enough with all thoughts and actions that could harm another person deliberately. Correction comes from within.

Fi Amanillah,
Wassalamu'alaikum.

Opening

bismillâh ir-rahmân ir-rahîm

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

This is my first experience in 'blogging' therefore May Allah forgive me for any defeciencies in it.

Fi Amanillah (May Allah s.w.t protect you),
Wassalamu'alaikum.
